Warmth spread through her body, soothing the aches from bruises on her arms and legs while mending a cut on her cheek. The cold, humid air of the dungeon faded as Amelia basked in the healing energy of Vigor. Within seconds, her wounds vanished and her breathing returned to normal. The beads of sweat trickled down her fair skin and her dampened short, crimson hair were the only remains of her earlier exertion.

Horrid stench of blood intensified immensely. Along with faster recovery, Vigor enhanced nearly all aspects of its user’s physical ability. Amelia winced as her sense of smell became three times better. The first time she unknowingly healed herself after killing a demon, the young hunter threw up from a sudden explosion of nauseating reek.

Her amber gaze shifted toward two massive corpses on the floor. The demons laid lifeless at her feet, their dark blood pouring from gashes on their neck and stomach. Their unfocused red eyes stared up at the cobweb ceiling while their grey skin grew paler by the second. The widening pool of raven fluid reflected soft blue light of glowing crystals Amelia had scattered before the battle.

Tight corridors hindered her mobility, which was the cause of her unnecessary injuries. The young hunter normally took down these gigantic monsters with ease by overwhelming them with her agility in open ground. Narrow spaces forced her to fight in close combat and put her at a heavy disadvantage, considering her enemies were three times stronger and more endurance than her.

More training is in order, I suppose. Amelia sighed as pain and fatigue evaporated completely.

The young hunter cut the energy from Vigor, and the cold returned. She shivered involuntarily as icy chills pricked her bare arms and midriff. She craved the warmth again, but resisted the urge.

Summer was in full swing and its suffocating heat was unbearable, so the plummeted temperature in the dungeon caught her by surprise. Her light leather armors and clothing were great for maneuverability but utterly useless against the freezing air.

Amelia rolled the stud on her right earlobe between two fingers. Vigor required skin contact or a metallic medium to activate the flow of energy. She embedded the prized obsidian inside the tin earring to keep it hidden and connected to her at all times.

The crystal became a vital part in boosting her fighting prowess. Its benefits extended beyond accelerated healing. Not only did Vigor enhance strength and endurance greatly, it also heightened her reflexes far above human capability.

For those reasons, the black gems were highly valuable. Amelia saved up for nearly half a year before managing to purchase a hold of a sliver. Though the investment was worth every copper, the tiny gem only lasted a few minutes of constant use.

Soft whimpering moans drifted through the dark corridor drew her attention. She snatched the glowing crystals from the floor and dashed down the unlit path. The pale blue light illuminated a few feet ahead of her.

Multiple reports of demon attacks brought her to the southern region. She arrived in Southpeak only minutes after an attack. When the local blacksmith begged her to save his niece, the young hunter immediately rushed to the ancient dungeon. It was reckless to approach a hunt without preparation. Cunning enemies could set up traps or ambush her. Since the villagers mentioned three large demons, Amelia hoped they were brute types which she could deal with easily.

Cracked and uneven stone tiles laid the ground. Cobweb and dust coated nearly every surface. Rubbles partially blocked the passage from crumbled walls. The young hunter leaped and sidestep while keeping the urgent pace, but the feminine cries still felt distant.

I’m not going to make it at this rate! Amelia cursed under her breath.

Warmth spread through her once more, but the source came from underneath her left bracer this time. A thumb-sized crystal with a green tint flared in its metal housing as the young hunter drew energy from Essence.

A significantly cheaper and more commonly used than Vigor. Essence was the first crystal created by the Hunter’s guild to combat demons. It allowed hunters to manipulate natural elements for enhanced offensive and defensive capabilities.

Wind whirled around her ankles as Amelia molded and compressed Essence’s energy with her mind. She lunged forward before an eruption of torrent propelled her through the air like a loose arrow.

At this blinding speed, any obstacles became deadly. The young hunter never wanted to execute Aero in such tight space with poor to no visibility of the passage ahead. Broken walls and small boulders flashed by as she flew through the corridor. A shudder shot down her spine every time debris streaked by. A few even scraped her cheek and arms.

The moaning grew louder before a pillar of yellow light became visible. Amelia gritted her teeth and released the draw on Essence. She twisted her body as the momentum carried her toward the open doorway.

Please let me make it!

A surge of wind spiraled around her ankles once more as she realigned herself to face the entrance. The explosion of air shot her through the portal. Soaring into the room at blinding speed, the polished edge of a dagger glinted yellow in her right hand.

Blazing bonfire illuminated the small chamber. Rubbles and broken pillars sat scattered, exposing the crumbling state of the dungeon. A naked, tan girl laid atop a flat boulder with her long, black hair spilled over its edges. Her heavy breasts swayed back and forth violently from the forceful rutting of the demon above her.

The gray skin monster was much smaller than the ones Amelia slain earlier. Flowing white hair fell over the side of his face and shoulders. Two black horns jutted from his forehead, just beneath his hairline. His grunts of pleasure grew more and more frantic with every thrust.

With his back turned in her direction, she had the opportunity to end the fight before it even started. She decidedly dove in with Aero and swung down on the nape of his neck. Black blood sprayed like a geyser. The demon stumbled a step backward. Amelia grabbed the girl in her arms as soon as she landed and shot away without missing a beat. A soft thud came a heartbeat later, but not a loud collapse she was hoping to hear.

The young hunter spun over the stone floor, holding the naked woman tight against her chest. The demon was on one knee with a hand clasped against the gushing wound on his thick neck. The red of his eyes burned with anger, and long white fangs jutted from his snarling lips.

With the amount of blood pouring between his fingers, arteries were certainly severed. Amelia expected him to topple over in seconds, but his massive frame did not waver in the slightest. A smile curled his lips, an ominous grin that sent dread down her spine.

“You will pay for that, hunter,” the demon said in a surprisingly clear voice.

Merv groaned, drawing Amelia’s attention. She fetched a tin stud from the pouch around her waist before plunging its needle end into the tan girl’s earlobe. She whimpered softly under her breath, but remained unconscious.

This earring housed Bliss. The same type of stud Amelia wore on her left ear. The white crystal worked as a contraception by draining fertility from its wearer. A reverse engineering ingenuity by the Hunter’s guild to prevent hunters from being bred by demons.

Like Essence, the gem was made available by the general public. The guild gained hefty profits by selling it to brothels and whores. Its original name was lost through time after sex workers came up with one their own for the handy crystal, Bliss.

“Don’t worry, hunter. I haven’t filled her with my seed just yet.” The demon stood, then dropped his hand to reveal a fully healed neck.

“How?!” Amelia gasped.

“I am Drezoth Voidbringer, second son of the Dark Lord!” His grin widened. “Your puny attacks are useless against me.”

Amelia gulped audibly. She did not want to believe his words, but the fact he could heal such a severe wound in a heartbeat was proof enough. He was a high demon, well-known across Endolia as The Immortal. One in a shortlist of demons with the highest risk level.

Drezoth made his entrance several years ago when he attacked and eradicated five first-tier hunters by himself. They were one of the strongest parties ever formed. The veteran combatants took on countless powerful enemies and always came out victorious. They had extensive experience slaying high demons, and many had fallen before their impeccable teamwork. The hunters instinctively fell into their battle formation. Fierce attacks bombarded him from all directions, but he merely shrugged them off. Ripped flesh mended in a heartbeat while severed limbs regenerated with ease.

One by one, they were defeated. His overwhelming strength was nearly as terrifying as the Dark Lord himself. The last, and the only woman in the party, was ravaged until she depleted her Vigor and passed out from exhaustion. Drezoth left her alive, so his tales of brutality became known to the world.

“So you’ve heard about me...” the immortal demon smirked.

Crystalline rotten luck! Of all the demons, I have to encounter him!?

Five elite tier hunters were wiped out so easily. A fourth-tier like herself was merely a speck of dust in his path. Amelia probably accomplished nothing even if she threw everything at him, but she could not abandon Merv and run. She would rather die than leaving the girl to an awful fate. She cast aside her weak and naive self after losing her dignity and honor two years ago. The horrid, degrading past still haunted her, but it had become distant memories. It would hopefully fade completely with time.

The young hunter laid Merv against a nearby boulder. Long, black hair fanned out over her bare, heavy breasts and offered a bit of decency. The steady rose and fell of her chest was a good sign. The only concern was blood stains between her thighs which were undoubtedly caused by Drezoth’s oversized member.

“Submit to me, hunter. Serve me well and I’d consider letting you live as my pet,” the demon said.

His body was a perfect sculpture. The frozen waterfall of his long, white hair cascaded down to touch his powerful shoulders while firelight glinted off his black horns. Hard edges of his muscles brimmed with overwhelming power. An impenetrable armor that had overcome countless steel.

A faint line on his masculine neck caught her eyes. The color of the scar was a nearly indiscernible, paler grey. Amelia would never notice it at a glance unless she was searching for a weakness in his perfect form. The young hunter found more marks of his vulnerability. A cut on his left arm. A slash on his right shoulder. Multiple injuries on his broad chest. Her hope rekindled at the sight of a dim possibility.

No magic is limitless. Her father had ingrained this fact into her during training. No matter how powerful a demon, his magic would run out eventually.

“I’ll just have to hold out until then,” Amelia said, before reaching to cup Merv’s cheeks. “Hang in there. I’ll get you home for sure.”

Her left hand curled around the second dagger sheathed on the small of her back. The young hunter fought down fear and stood. A rookie like her had never faced an enemy with such power before. The intensity of his presence was enough to buckle her knees.

“You dare fight me? Are you trying to make me laugh?” The demon cocked an eyebrow. Amusement danced in his crimson gaze.

“Wouldn’t know until I try,” she said and brought the daggers up in reverse grips, then lowered her body into a fighting stance.

“An insect should know its place!” he snarled. His cock slid inside a protective shell around his crotch.

Shadows beneath Drezoth whirled and darkened for a split second, then streaked toward her. Amelia leaped back just before spikes shot up from the floor. The blades were pitch black and did not catch the light of fire. Though the danger was real, its existence felt out of place, as if it did not belong in this world.

The ability to control shadows was an innate talent of the demon race. Each of them wielded the magic differently. Darkness could turn into weapons, binding, illusions, or anything imaginable. The style might differ amongst its users, but the magic was undoubtedly a deadly weapon.

Amelia flew atop a large boulder with Aero to draw the attack away from Merv. She gambled on his prideful nature that he would not capture the unconscious girl as a hostage. Drezoth would not use such a cheap trick when he could force her into submission with his own power.

Tendrils of darkness slithered across stones without hindrance, forcing her to keep moving. Amelia spun and leaped from one rock to the next as more and more spikes rushed after her. It was only a matter of time before the shadows found its mark.

The young hunter glanced at the high demon as she dodged another volley of spears by a hair’s breadth. His arms folded over his broad chest, and a condescending smirk stretched his lips. He was certain of his victory and merely toying with her for entertainment.

“Are you trying to kill me with boredom, hunter?” he mocked.

See if you like this?! Amelia snarled before jumping off the edge of a large boulder.

Aero propelled her higher, just enough to buy a heartbeat of reprieve. Warmth coursed through her arms as she drew Essence toward her weapons. She molded the energy in her mind before slashing in Drezoth’s direction.

Crescents of translucent wind shot from her daggers and flew at the high demon. Gale Cutter was a skill she learned from her mother. Amelia had not mastered it and could only launch the blades for a short distance. It was enough to give her an edge in combat.

Drezoth gasped in surprise as the cutters struck his masculine shoulder and neck. A spray of black blood splattered nearby rubbles and floor while the demon staggered back a step. His high and mighty composure broke with an expression of confused daze.

The small victory brought a smile to her lips before Amelia dashed in to continue her assault. The high demon could heal himself, but she only needed to disrupt his recovery and create an opportunity to escape with Merv.

Two more Gale Cutters landed with a burst of blood. The young hunter shot through the air with Aero while bombarding him from all directions. Gray flesh ripped as a mist of dark droplets and dust clouded around Drezoth.

Just a little more. Amelia panted. Sweat beaded her forehead and dampened her clothes and hair.

Continuous use of Essence strained both her mind and body. A lack of focus would both ruin the precise timing for executing Aero and reducing the effectiveness of Gale Cutter. Being in constant motion at blinding speed also put a massive burden on all of her muscles.

Amelia landed near Merv. Her knees shook, but she steadied herself quickly. Darkness crept at the edge of her vision as she soothed the burning in her lungs with several long gulps of air. The daggers felt like lead and the young hunter readjusted her grips to keep from dropping them.

The screen of dust and blood provided precious seconds she could not afford to waste. Amelia sheathed the daggers quickly before reaching down to grab the village girl as the mental image of whirling wind formed within her hazy mind.

Pain flared on her left thigh and arm. The young hunter cried out, losing the hold on Merv. Two black spikes pierced through her flesh. They slithered then stretched and coiled around her limbs. Immobilized the young hunter and prevented healing of the puncture wounds.

“Where did you learn that technique?!” Drezoth snarled as he emerged from the dust cloud unscathed.

“What?...Arghh!” Amelia screamed when the dark tendrils hoisted her up and effortlessly hung in midair.

“Who taught you wind manipulation?!”

“Nghh! I-I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

Obsidian blades plunged through her other arm and leg. She cried out from sudden agony then whimpered as the darkness wrapped around then pulled her upright. Drezoth seized her throat and tugged Amelia within inches of his face.

“Choose your word wisely, hunter. My shadow will tear your limbs apart if your answer fails to satisfy me.” His shadows dug into her flesh, squeezing and threatening to break her bones. “Who taught you that technique?!”

There was no doubt the high demon would follow through on his threat. The rage burning behind his crimson eyes was evidence enough. A shudder ran down her back as fear and despair she had not felt in years seized her like a depthless abyss.

The demons she encountered were nothing compared to the one before her. The air around him simmered with violence and brutality. An embodiment of malice that destroyed everything in its path.

“M-my mother…” Amelia said in a shaky voice.

His eyes went wide. Excitement mingled with disbelief in his expression. Long moment passed before a smile tugged at the corner of his lips. Dark tendrils burst from the shadow around his feet and slithered beneath her clothing. Fastening straps of the breastplate were slashed before garments shredded to pieces. The armors and weapons rattled uselessly on the floor as Amelia hung mostly exposed in front of the demon. With her limbs stabbed and seized by his shadows, she was no different from a helpless prey before a predator.

Drezoth eyed her pert breasts and licked his lips. The flame of lust behind his gaze was unmistakable. He would use her to quench his insatiable desire. No one would come to save her and Merv in this remote dungeon.

Pain erupted across her bare chest as he raked his claw across her supple flesh. Amelia screamed. Blood oozed and trickled down in long, flowing streams. He grinned in delight, savoring the torment on his prey. The high demon left a deep, jagged gash along the length of her sternum to the middle of her taut stomach. The young hunter sobbed. Tears covered her flushed cheeks as she hung limply from the shadowy restraints.

“P-Please…the girl...” she murmured, but was cut off by tightening his grip around her throat.

Amelia choked. Her body convulsed with burning anguish as Drezoth dragged his tongue over the fresh wound. Licking up her blood. The pain was unbearable and she yearned for the soothing warmth of Vigor, but it would only prolong the torture.

“Yes…” he said with glee in his voice. “There is her scent in your blood.”

The demon straightened and stared down at her. His lips dripped red. His eyes danced with elation.

“The Void blessed me with such a glorious gift this day!”

Drezoth spread his arms wide as if in prayer before returning his attention to her once more. Faint scars turned black, revealing countless wounds all over his masculine body. He seized her throat once more before leaning within inches of her.

“Your elven cunt mother marred my flesh with these scars,” he said through gritted teeth. “You will pay for her insolence until the day I have her cowering beneath my foot.”

Shadows uncoiled from her arms and legs before slithering away. Amelia groaned as pain flared across her body and blood gushed from the four punctuated wounds. A part of her would not mind bleeding out. Death was a better fate than turning into his pawn for revenge against her mother, even when she failed to see the possibility of the high demon exacting his vengeance. The elves disappeared from the world fifteen years ago. Their glorious city of Nyne Unarith vanished without a trace. It was as if they never existed in the first place.

Amelia drew from Vigor and enveloped herself with a surge of warmth. Not a trickle like before to heal cuts and bruises slowly, but a flood of energy to mend gaping flesh instantly. A few heartbeats were all it took before she regained movements of her limbs again.

The young hunter twisted in Drezoth’s grasp and rammed both knees into his masculine arm. The attack shattered his elbow with a loud crack. His grip loosened. She landed softly but his fist struck her first. The world spun before another blow connected with her stomach. Amelia slammed into nearby rubble. Air burst from her lungs upon impact. She crumpled to the hard ground gracelessly. Pain erupted as if all her bones were smashed to pieces.

“I’m tired of your pesky game, half-breed.” The demon stood over her, his arm absent of any injuries. “I may want you for my revenge, but I do not need all of you. Stay obedient and I will let you keep your limbs.”

Icy shiver rolled down her spine as haziness slowly faded. The difference in their strength was too great and a head-on fight only led to defeat. The remaining option was for Amelia to play his game and bide time. Even if there was no escape for herself, she might find a way to save Merv.

“On your knees, half-breed.” Drezoth lifted a fist and waited for her to comply.

Amelia wheezed and coughed. Agony tore through her lithe frame as she tried and failed to get up. A feeble groan drifted across the stony floor, and her heart wrenched. Shadows wrapped around Merv’s neck, squeezing life from the unconscious woman.

“No! Stop!” she croaked.

“On your knees. Now!”

Vigor rushed over her wrecked body, enough to ease the pain. The young hunter grunted and forced herself to her knees. Shadow loosened and a soft sigh from the village girl confirmed it. Amelia exhaled with relief.

“Drink my blood and surrender yourself to the Hunger. For you are nothing but a worthless cunt for my pleasure from now on.” His fist tightened over her before black blood streaked down his palm and dripped.

The first of raven droplets splattered her forehead as Amelia watched in horror. Hunger overwhelmed any being with the insatiable lust. An ability unique to demons who wielded blood magic. The spell not only engulfed the victims with carnal needs but also brought out their darkest desires.

Her heart raced and her mind reeled with memories from a past she tried ceaselessly to forget. A past where she met Clyde. A past when she was nothing but a failure and a disgrace…

Warmth splashed her cheeks and she quivered. Drezoth still gripped Merv’s neck with his darkness. Another drop smeared a corner of her mouth and she trembled. Amelia forced herself to tilt her face upward.

I can overcome this! I overcame Clyde and I’ll defeat his Hunger!

Her lips parted slightly to accept his enslavement. Iron coated her tongue a second later. Ominous energy penetrated the young hunter from within and she lurched uncontrollably. Blood pumped through her heart at an alarming rate. A yearning ache clutched her stiff nipples while her pussy twitched. Dark and depraved desire engulfed her mind, stifling rationality and reason.

You’re a failure and a disgrace, Amelia. Nothing but a worthless whore… A voice locked away in the deep recess of her past echoed.

I...I am a...failure...
